A Cross-Sectional Study to Detect Cystic Echinococcosis in Añatuya, Santiago Del Estero (Argentina)

Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is endemic in Argentina, and approximately 30% of the national territory has characteristics appropriate for development zoonotic domestic cycle this disease. This community-wide study was implemented rural areas Añatuya, Santiago del Estero (northern Argentina) to determine presence Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato definitive host (dogs) CE humans. Infection data from dogs were obtained through collection analysis fecal samples; these processed sedimentation/flotation techniques PCR. The humans determined by ultrasound (US) serology (ELISA confirmed Western Blot—WB) Miel de Palo settlement.
